I was invited last night to the Unbroken Circle, a tasting club in Tokyo that has been together for some twenty years. Next month they will celebrate their 200th session. All magnums? Carl Robinson of Jeroboam had collected the wines for this blind man's bluff. The centrepiece was a flight of mostly 2005 Sagrantino from Montefalco, not a wine that I know well. They seem to pair the tannins of young Barolo with the brooding flesh and alcohol of Barossa Shiraz. This is a wine to revisit, but I'll certainly rinse out my mouth with olive oil before the next go. Comments
