The producers of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux have learned that they must travel widely to justify their pricing. They just happened to be at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo pouring their 2008s when I passed yesterday. I had to chuckle when I heard people - after the hikes for 2009 and 2010 - talking about the attractive pricing for wines that not all of them truly enjoy drinking. This is a more classical vintage that may well evolve nicely, but is still rather austere. Comments
